President Christodoulides Presents Cyprus EU Presidency Achievements at European Council Summit in Brussels

President Nikos Christodoulides will present the key achievements of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union at the European Council Summit in Brussels on June 18-19.

During discussions under the theme “One Europe, One Market,” President Christodoulides will outline the Presidency’s main accomplishments alongside the Presidents of the European Parliament and the European Commission. The session will focus on strengthening European economic competitiveness and shaping the European Union’s long-term priorities.

A major highlight of the summit will be the presentation of the first negotiating text for the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) 2028-2034, the EU’s long-term budget plan. The document is expected to guide discussions among member states and provide a foundation for the incoming Irish Presidency to continue negotiations.

European Council President António Costa stated that leaders will discuss how Europe can remain economically competitive in an increasingly complex geopolitical environment. Topics on the agenda also include global economic challenges, the situation in Ukraine, developments in the Middle East, and migration policy.

The summit will further address the opening of the first cluster of accession negotiations with Ukraine and Moldova, a development regarded as one of the significant achievements of the Cyprus Presidency.

By presenting these outcomes, Cyprus reinforces its growing role in shaping European policy and contributing to the EU’s economic and strategic agenda.
